Garrard & Co Edwardian Love Heart Pendant
An incredible Edwardian pendant by the esteemed Garrard & Co., "Goldsmiths, Jewellers, &c, TO THE KING, by SPECIAL APPOINTMENT TO THE CROWN, Haymarket, London." And a regal piece it is indeed. A diamond-set heart sits within a stunning green guilloché enamel field, all surrounded by a border of white enamel with gold accents and eight natural pearls - all crafted in 18 carat yellow gold. It hangs from a gorgeous ribbon bow bail and comes complete with its original, purple velvet, fitted presentation box. The wording on the inside of the lid allows us to date it between 1901 and 1909: "to the king" tells us it was made during the reign of Edward VII, and the "R.S Garrard & Co." branding was phased out in 1909 when the company began trading as "Garrard & Company Ltd.", dropping the initials at the beginning.
"Garrard was the first official and most notably important Crown Jeweller of the United Kingdom having supplied jewels for Queen Victoria, and was charged with the upkeep of the British Crown Jewels, from 1843 to 2007, and was responsible for the creation of many tiaras and jewels still worn by the British royal family today. As well as jewellery, Garrard is known for having created some of the world's most illustrious sporting trophies, including the America's Cup, the ICC Cricket World Cup Trophy[1] and a number of trophies for Royal Ascot in its role as Official Trophies and Silverware Supplier, which originally dates back to the first Gold Cup in 1842." - Source: Wikipedia.org

Condition
We offer detailed and accurate condition reports on each listing. These pieces are antique, vintage, or pre-loved and often over 100 years old so they're going to have lived a life. A healthy patina and the odd scuff or scrape is quite normal... it's part of their charm! Everything we present has been checked over by our jeweller and should be good for wear for many years to come (unless otherwise stated) but please remember to treat them with appropriate care and consideration for their age.
