Victorian Garnet Cabochon Locket
A stunning Victorian locket built around the juiciest garnet cabochon I've ever seen. A glittering, diamond-studded star sits over the cabochon, and the bail is fashioned as a diamond-studded ribbon with matching drop hanging beneath. The garnet lights up with a vivid raspberry red hue as it catches the light. An oval glass locket compartment opens up to hold a small memento or keepsake at the back of the locket. Crafted in 15 carat gold and silver, it dates from the mid 19th century, circa 1860.
Era: Victorian, circa 1860
Size: 5.3cm (including bail) by 2.3cm
Stones: Garnet (variety, almandine-pyrope) & Rose Cut Diamonds
Marks: None, tested as silver and 15ct gold
Condition: Good antique condition; the back is dented where the locket glass pushes in to the body of the locked - see images. Locket cover remains secure.

Condition
We offer detailed and accurate condition reports on each listing. These pieces are antique, vintage, or pre-loved and often over 100 years old so they're going to have lived a life. A healthy patina and the odd scuff or scrape is quite normal... it's part of their charm! Everything we present has been checked over by our jeweller and should be good for wear for many years to come (unless otherwise stated) but please remember to treat them with appropriate care and consideration for their age.
