Georgian Locket Ring
Stunning Georgian memorial ring made to commemorate the life and death of Jane Pawley. Behind the glass locket compartment rests a woven lock of Jane's hair, and a dedication behind the head reads: Jane Pawley, obt 28 Sept 1826, Aet 18. The craftsmanship, and the level of detail achieved, is spectacular: the locket compartment rests within a deeply carved, cornucopic border with blossoms, shells, and foliage, and the head is bordered by a raised lip with milled detailing to the inner edge. The shoulders are a masterclass in rococo-style acanthus leaf ornamentation that emerges from a single flower on each side of the band. A full set of English hallmarks, stamped at the London assay office in 1826, warrants the gold at 18 carat and confirms that duty has been paid.

Condition
We offer detailed and accurate condition reports on each listing. These pieces are antique, vintage, or pre-loved, often over 100 years old so they're going to have lived a life. A healthy patina and the odd scuff/scrape are quite normal... it's part of their charm! Everything we present has been checked over by our jeweller and should be good for wear for many years to come (unless otherwise stated) but please remember to treat them with appropriate care and consideration for their age.
