1969 Watermelon Tourmaline Ring
Nature imitating nature. This particular parti-colour gemstone - known as watermelon tourmaline - must display a very particular pattern of colour: green to white to pink. Just like a slice of the real thing. And this one does it beautifully, cut in a perfect imitation of a watermelon slice with approx. 5mm of green skin, 4mm of white flesh gradually colouring to pink. The stone weighs around 35 carats in total, and it's set north-south in an architectural 1960s ring mount very much formed in the mid century modernist style - all flat surfaces, acute angles, and clean lines. Crafted in solid 9 carat gold.

Condition
We offer detailed and accurate condition reports on each listing. These pieces are antique, vintage, or pre-loved, often over 100 years old so they're going to have lived a life. A healthy patina and the odd scuff/scrape are quite normal... it's part of their charm! Everything we present has been checked over by our jeweller and should be good for wear for many years to come (unless otherwise stated) but please remember to treat them with appropriate care and consideration for their age.
