1890 Diamond & Sapphire Belcher Ring
ON HOLD Gorgeous antique five-stone belcher ring dating from the late Victorian period. Crafted in 18ct gold, it's set with old mine cut diamonds and natural blue sapphires - the stones secured by claw mounts carved from the head of the ring. The diamonds are chunky and bright, and the sapphires a vivid royal blue - London hallmarks date it to the year 1890, the very same year that Oscar Wilde published The Picture of Dorian Gray, Tchaikovsky debuted his ballet The Sleeping Beauty, and Francis Galton announces a statistical demonstration of the uniqueness and classifiability of individual human fingerprints.

Condition
We offer detailed and accurate condition reports on each listing. These pieces are antique, vintage, or pre-loved, often over 100 years old so they're going to have lived a life. A healthy patina and the odd scuff/scrape are quite normal... it's part of their charm! Everything we present has been checked over by our jeweller and should be good for wear for many years to come (unless otherwise stated) but please remember to treat them with appropriate care and consideration for their age.
