Child & Child Renaissance Revival Brooch
An early brooch by Child & Child crafted in the Renaissance Revival style. In their short 35 years, operating between 1880 and 1915, Child and Child established themselves as one of Englands leading jewellery houses with Royal patrons that included Queen Victoria, King Edward VII and King George V (no less); they were ultimately awarded a Royal Warrant by Queen Alexandra in the early 20th century. Best known today for their silver and enamel works in the Art and Crafts style, their early output focused around the medieval and Renaissance revivals as well as more traditional 19th century designs.
This brooch, a rare early example, is crafted in silver and festooned with glowing green cabochons of chrysoprase. It features their iconic double C sunflower maker's mark and dates from the 1880s.

Condition
We offer detailed and accurate condition reports on each listing. These pieces are antique, vintage, or pre-loved and often over 100 years old so they're going to have lived a life. A healthy patina and the odd scuff/scrape are quite normal... it's part of their charm! Everything we present has been checked over by our jeweller and should be good for wear for many years to come (unless otherwise stated) but please remember to treat them with appropriate care and consideration for their age.
