Victorian Diamond Stirrup Ring
An exceptional antique stirrup, or gypsy, ring dating from the late 19th century. It's crafted in 18 carat gold with a .92ct old cut diamond set within a thin platinum bezel creating a gorgeous colour contrast with the rich yellow gold. The old Euro stone is bright and lively, displaying excellent brilliance and rainbow flashes of colour as it moves through the light. The date 16th December 1896 is engraved inside the band, making this an early example of platinum jewellery; at this time jewellers had only recently acquired the knowledge and technology required to work in platinum, and it wasn't commonly used until the first decade of the 20th century.

Condition
We offer detailed and accurate condition reports on each listing. These pieces are antique, vintage, or pre-loved, often over 100 years old so they're going to have lived a life. A healthy patina and the odd scuff/scrape are quite normal... it's part of their charm! Everything we present has been checked over by our jeweller and should be good for wear for many years to come (unless otherwise stated) but please remember to treat them with appropriate care and consideration for their age.
