2016 Demantoid Garnet Ring
Minimalist solitaire ring set with a vivid acid green demantoid garnet in a classic four prong mount. It's crafted in 10ct yellow gold, the simplicity of the design keeps the focus firmly on this stunning stone.
Demantoid garnets were first discovered deep in the Ural mountains, Russia, during the latter half of the 19th century. In 1868, miners discovered a cache of green gemstones they presumed were emeralds... but on closer inspection the stones had a much brighter lustre, and "the miners were stunned by the highly refractive nature of the gem material." Colour aside, the optical properties were more akin to diamond than emerald, hence the name: demantoid, from the French, demant, meaning diamond-like.

Condition
We offer detailed and accurate condition reports on each listing. These pieces are antique, vintage, or pre-loved, often over 100 years old so they're going to have lived a life. A healthy patina and the odd scuff/scrape are quite normal... it's part of their charm! Everything we present has been checked over by our jeweller and should be good for wear for many years to come (unless otherwise stated) but please remember to treat them with appropriate care and consideration for their age.
