Art Deco Diamond & Pearl Bimetal Brooch
Superb antique bar brooch dating from the 1920s. Set with alternating diamonds and pearls, the former set in platinum and the later set in 18ct gold to create a striking, bimetal effect. The pearls are natural, and the diamonds are an archaic old cut, the Peruzzi or square modified brilliant, named after the Venetian lapidary Vincenzo Peruzzi who is credited with creating this precursor to the modern brilliant cut in the late 17th century. The stones rest in elongated claw settings, and French control marks (import) suggest it was made in England before being retailed in Paris. These bar brooches look excellent hung vertically on a chain (even better if the fittings are removed - get in touch if you'd like a quote to convert this piece).

Condition
We offer detailed and accurate condition reports on each listing. These pieces are antique, vintage, or pre-loved and often over 100 years old so they're going to have lived a life. A healthy patina and the odd scuff/scrape are quite normal... it's part of their charm! Everything we present has been checked over by our jeweller and should be good for wear for many years to come (unless otherwise stated) but please remember to treat them with appropriate care and consideration for their age.
