Art Deco Diamond Brooch
A brooch that would struggle to look more 'Art Deco' if it tried. The term, Art Deco, from the French 'Arts décoratifs', wasn't actually coined until the 1960s, decades after the iconic style had given way to the more minimalist mid-century aesthetic, but it's instantly recognisable, characterised by the geometric forms of the Vienna Secession and Cubism, the bright colours of Fauvism and of the Ballets Russes, and the exoticized styles of art from China, Japan, India, Persia, ancient Egypt, and Maya.
This brooch dates from the 1920s, featuring approx. 3.6 carats of bright white diamonds - transitional and single cuts - in millegrain platinum settings over 18 carat white gold. It utilises bold, stepped geometric forms, framed by two sweeping arches that highlight the colour of whatever it ends up pinned to. French assay marks warrant the metal.

Condition
We offer detailed and accurate condition reports on each listing. These pieces are antique, vintage, or pre-loved, often over 100 years old so they're going to have lived a life. A healthy patina and the odd scuff/scrape are quite normal... it's part of their charm! Everything we present has been checked over by our jeweller and should be good for wear for many years to come (unless otherwise stated) but please remember to treat them with appropriate care and consideration for their age.
