19th Century Micromosaic Pyramid Pendant
A remarkable 19th century micromosaic pendant depicting, quite unusually, an ancient Egyptian pyramid. Likely a souvenir of an English aristocrat's Grand Tour, the piece dates from the first half of the 19th century, circa 1840. The micromosaic panel is mounted in red glass which is, in turn, mounted in 15 carat gold. Most of these micromosaics depict landmarks in Rome or floral arrangements or occasionally bugs; and Egyptian themed example is rare.
Era: Victorian, circa 1840
Size: 2.4cm (including bail) by 2.1cm
Marks: None, tested as 15ct gold
Condition: Fair. Damage to the red glass mount down one side - see images. Micromosaic is in pristine condition

Condition
We offer detailed and accurate condition reports on each listing. These pieces are antique, vintage, or pre-loved and often over 100 years old so they're going to have lived a life. A healthy patina and the odd scuff/scrape are quite normal... it's part of their charm! Everything we present has been checked over by our jeweller and should be good for wear for many years to come (unless otherwise stated) but please remember to treat them with appropriate care and consideration for their age.
