1982 Aquamarine 'Toi et Moi' Ring
An unusual modernist 'Toi et Moi' ring set with to vibrant powder-blue aquamarines. The design is somewhat unusual: one edge of the 18ct yellow gold band loops up and around each of the stones, which are themselves set in platinum baskets creating a subtle bi-metal tone contrast. The gold is beautifully textured, and London hallmarks to the inner band indicate that it was made in 1982.
Aquamarine's name translates from the Latin as Seawater. Whilst some stones have a greenish-blue hue, these two showcase an intense pale blue that's reminiscent of shallow water over white sand... the ancient Greeks believed these stones washed ashore having spilled from the treasure chests of the Sirens.

Condition
We offer detailed and accurate condition reports on each listing. These pieces are antique, vintage, or pre-loved, often over 100 years old so they're going to have lived a life. A healthy patina and the odd scuff/scrape are quite normal... it's part of their charm! Everything we present has been checked over by our jeweller and should be good for wear for many years to come (unless otherwise stated) but please remember to treat them with appropriate care and consideration for their age.
