1980s Modernist Amber Ring
Amber has long been considered to have healing and magical powers, said to protect against the plague in the middle ages and powdered for incense to repel black magic. The fabled 'Amber Room' was gifted to Peter the Great in 1716 celebrating the peace between Prussia and Russia (go look it up, it's totally absurd). The amber panels packed into crates by the Axis during WW2, and remain lost to this day (although a replica Amber Room was completed in 2003, based on photographs and descriptions of the original). No-one knows what became of the original panels of the Amber Room, but it's generally accepted that they were destroyed in the fire-bombing of Königsberg by the RAF, or the subsequent artillery assault by the Red Army.

Condition
We offer detailed and accurate condition reports on each listing. These pieces are antique, vintage, or pre-loved, often over 100 years old so they're going to have lived a life. A healthy patina and the odd scuff/scrape are quite normal... it's part of their charm! Everything we present has been checked over by our jeweller and should be good for wear for many years to come (unless otherwise stated) but please remember to treat them with appropriate care and consideration for their age.
