1941 Rose Gold Band
Quality rose gold wedding band dating from the 1940s. It's beautifully made and wonderfully versatile - the hallmarks inside the band telling something of its tale... The include the usual date letter and assay office stamp (for 1941 and Birmingham respectively), but feature an extra symbol: what looks like a little U, or more precisely it looks like (). This "utility mark" was introduced by the English assay offices during the darkest days of WW2, restricting the use of gold wedding rings from the usual 22ct down to 9ct, with their weight being limited to two pennyweights (approx. 3.1 grams).

Condition
We offer detailed and accurate condition reports on each listing. These pieces are antique, vintage, or pre-loved, often over 100 years old so they're going to have lived a life. A healthy patina and the odd scuff/scrape are quite normal... it's part of their charm! Everything we present has been checked over by our jeweller and should be good for wear for many years to come (unless otherwise stated) but please remember to treat them with appropriate care and consideration for their age.
