Rings of Resistance: "STAND UP NOW"
A ring is inspired by a truly radical, counter-cultural group born in the wake of the English Civil Wars (the ones where King Charles I lost his head). They were pioneering socialists, led by "failed-mystic" Gerrard Winstanley, and are the forerunners of the environmentalist movement - centuries ahead of their time.
They called themselves the "True Levellers" but they’re better known as The Diggers. They believed the earth belonged to everyone. No private property. No landowners. No class system. No Kings.
Just a shared cultivation and stewardship of the land. On April 1st 1649 The Diggers occupied the land on St. Georges Hill, Surrey, planting it with peas, beans, carrots and parsnips. They were eventually thrown off and never succeeded in bringing their vision to life but they did leave us with language for their ideas of equality that didn’t exist before.
The only signet in our Rings of Resistance collection. The head of the ring is engraved with the spade and the crown, behind the head the immortal refrain from The Diggers' Song, written by Winstanley himself, “STAND UP NOW.” The shoulders are abundantly engraved with rambling foliage and pea-pods.

Layaway
25% deposit taken to secure the item. The remaining balance will be settled in 90 days. You can pay installments weekly, monthly, or the full balance at the end - whatever works.
Condition
We offer detailed and accurate condition reports on each listing. These pieces are antique, vintage, or pre-loved and often over 100 years old so they're going to have lived a life. A healthy patina and the odd scuff or scrape is quite normal... it's part of their charm! Everything we present has been checked over by our jeweller and should be good for wear for many years to come (unless otherwise stated) but please remember to treat them with appropriate care and consideration for their age.
