Regency Period Giardinetto Brooch
An attractive Georgian Giardinetto brooch dating from the Regency Period, circa 1810. These brooches, also known as flower baskets, are characterised by wonderfully intricate gold work and the blooms are usually represented by an array of coloured gemstones - in this case turquoise, rubies, and pink topaz. It also features woven gold wire forming the wicker basket, granulation in the form of grape bunches, and applied ropework down each side. The leaves are beautifully textured, and the reverse is home to an oval locket compartment complete with woven lock of hair behind the glass. Crafted in 18 carat gold.

Condition
We offer detailed and accurate condition reports on each listing. These pieces are antique, vintage, or pre-loved, often over 100 years old so they're going to have lived a life. A healthy patina and the odd scuff/scrape are quite normal... it's part of their charm! Everything we present has been checked over by our jeweller and should be good for wear for many years to come (unless otherwise stated) but please remember to treat them with appropriate care and consideration for their age.
