Antique Gold Fox Pin
A charming antique fox brooch dating from the turn of the 20th century. It's French, technically speaking a 'stock pin', with assay marks indicating 18ct gold throughout. The foxy head is wonderfully engraved with tufty fur and teeth slightly bared, and lips curled down in a growl. Designed to be worn vertically, rather than the usual horizontal bar brooch.
Stock Pins we used by equestrians (and fox hunters, gross) used to hold bandages together if an accident occurred while out and about. The injury would be bound (and splinted if a bone was broken) the, bandages pinned together with one of these. Admittedly they weren't usually made of solid gold...

Condition
We offer detailed and accurate condition reports on each listing. These pieces are antique, vintage, or pre-loved, often over 100 years old so they're going to have lived a life. A healthy patina and the odd scuff/scrape are quite normal... it's part of their charm! Everything we present has been checked over by our jeweller and should be good for wear for many years to come (unless otherwise stated) but please remember to treat them with appropriate care and consideration for their age.
