1920s Egyptian Revival Bracelet
An unusual Egyptian Revival panel bracelet dating from the 1920s but with a colour scheme reminiscent of 1980s video games (I'm thinking ZX Spectrum here, for any of you who remember that?). The enamelled panels depict scenes from life in ancient Egypt (as imagined by a jeweller in the 1920s, at least). It's crafted in solid silver with Egyptian marks near the clasp.
The discovery of an untouched tomb in 1922 by a then relatively unknown English archaeologist - Howard Carter - and his still relatively unknown Egyptian workforce - Ahmed Gerigar, Gad Hassan, Hussein Abu Awad and Hussein Ahmed Said amongst countless others - sparked a wave of "Tutmania", a specific instance of the long-standing phenomenon of Western Egyptomania that captured the collective imagination in Europe and the USA, with Egyptian themes both directly and indirectly inspiring the jewellery and fashions of the 19th century and Art Deco periods.

Condition
We offer detailed and accurate condition reports on each listing. These pieces are antique, vintage, or pre-loved and often over 100 years old so they're going to have lived a life. A healthy patina and the odd scuff or scrape is quite normal... it's part of their charm! Everything we present has been checked over by our jeweller and should be good for wear for many years to come (unless otherwise stated) but please remember to treat them with appropriate care and consideration for their age.
