It was also fascinated by transformation and rebirth; with nature in flux and the dawning new century; with women's suffrage and \u003cem\u003eArt for all \u003c\/em\u003e- so it makes sense for metamorphosis-themed motifs to appear regularly in Art Nouveau designs, dragonflies, butterflies, moths etc. And additionally, the butterfly's link to the human soul goes way back to the Ancient Greeks: Psyche, goddess of the soul, was a beautiful mortal with butterfly wings.
